(Summary: this starts on Terraview Crescent which runs off Edinburgh Road a little ways south of Kortright. Park on the street where you see a walkway leading into the woods, right beside a townhouse development.)
This is the red line on the map. Walk straight ahead into the woods bearing slightly left as you get into the wooded area. The path you see on your right will be your return path. There are blue blazes on this trail, although quite spaced apart. The trail starts out in an open forest but shortly leads into thicker woods for a short distance, then goes over a bridge and onto a boardwalk. At the end of the boardwalk you will continue down a long corridor until you again cross a small bridge and come into a clearing. Keep the clearing on your left and walk straight ahead for about 70 steps looking for a trail bearing off to the right. Turn right here. If you go straight ahead, you will probably end up turning east and coming out at Gordon Street.
Almost as soon as you get started in this direction the path mounts another boardwalk which runs for some distance. When this boardwalk ends you will very quickly come to a branch in the path (again about 70 steps from the end of the boardwalk). The path going straight ahead is shown as the yellow trail on the map. The path you want goes to the right and is easy to find because as you approach the fork you can see a prominent blue blaze on a tree on the right hand trail.
This area starts out fairly open, with many old, large trees, some in bad shape. In a short distance the trees close in on you. The blue blazes continue until you get close to the edge of the woods : at a sharp left turn in the path you will note the beginning of orange blazes. This orange blazed trail takes you out of the woods to beside the business park.
However, the blue blazed trail goes off to the right and is passable during cold weather when the bog freezes but warm weather makes for hard going at other times. So the trail makers partially blocked off the blue blazed trail and made a new trail that takes you out of the woods through drier conditions. I prefer to stay on the blue blazed trail because it stays inside the woods longer and gets you onto the path between the woods and the business park just south of the pond. Many people still use the blue blazed trail and the path is quite obvious.
Whether you take the orange blazed or blue blazed trail, turn right when you get out of the woods. The map shows the red trail and yellow trail side by side on the map, but it is the same path. Stay to the right when the trail splits at the pond and go to the top top corner of the pond: you will see a path that leads back into the woods on your right.
Go back into the woods and walk straight ahead for only about twenty yards and keep an eye on the right for a boardwalk. Follow this very straight boardwalk and trail over two bridges until the second boardwalk ends and the path turns left. Look for the trail that leads off to the right and out of the woods. When you get out of the woods turn right and follow the trail behind some houses to the walkway where you started.
