The Baxters' back yard, with chain link fence and cat fencing from the Affordable Cat Fence company. As of January 2010, the cat fence has been in place for almost 6 months. The only escape has been when the cats bribed the rabbits to dig holes under the fence. Those holes have since been blocked. Only one cat has tried to climb the fence and when he hit the netting he jumped down. He tried it three times and has given up. Of course, leaving the gate open has also resulted in escapes.

The whole idea is to keep the netting loose and the cats don't like unsolid footing. When they paw at it and it gives, they quit.

I have since painted the silver stanchions so they don't stand out as much. This is about as visible as the cat fence netting gets: seems to depend on how the sun is shining.

Fence at back

Against the trees the stanchions show up a little when they are not painted black

Fence along east side

You can't even see the netting in this picture

Wood and steel insert parts

A little tricky here, but it works

Close up of wood fence

Just keep a lot of slack in the netting

Chain link and wood connection

I love it!

Here are some pictures with the stanchions now painted black

West side painted

The stanchions are hardly visible and neither is the netting

Back painted fence

With the stanchions painted black, they are almost invisible in certain light

Close up of gate

You can see them when you get up close

From neighbour's property

With nothing as a background, even painting the stanchions still does not conceal them
